Omah Lay | Trends Hot on the front burner !!!

Omah Lay, the Nigerian Afro-fusion artist tops the music charts for the ninth week with the track “Godly”.

He is currently the most searched Nigerian artist on the internet at the week’s end.

Omah Stanley Didia AKA “Omah Lay” was born in Port Harcourt on the 19th of May, 1997.

The 23-year-old artist grew loving music and sound.

He started producing music at an early age of 15, taking after his grandfather who played the percussions for the legendary Highlife musician Celestine Ukwu. And this played a crucial role in the forming of Omah Lay.

He blends a style of RnB and Afrobeats creating what some describe as “Afro-fusion”.

His Debut

In 2019, he released singles including “Do Not Disturb” and “Hello Brother” but songs that got him the needed attention are the like of “Bad Influence” and “You” form his debut EP “Get Layd”.

Arriving the limelight, he went on to release more great hits like; “Ye Ye Ye”, “Damn” and “Lolo”.

He dropped his first official single on the 14th of February 2020 which generated almost 600,000 at the time of its release.

In their March episode of “Fresh Meat”, “The Native Mag” dubbed Omah Lay an artist to look out for in 2021.

Omah Lay got arrested alongside Tems and her manager Muyiwa Awomiyi on Sunday 13th December and consequently charged for performing at a supposedly unauthorized concert in Uganda dubbed “The Big Brunch”.

Charged for disobeying COVID-19 protocols, Omah Lay was released after two days in detention.

We guess after returning from the sad ordeal in Uganda.

On his Twitter handle, he lets us know he is bursting with “New Energy”.
