Ckay, a Chocolate City fast rising artist has been having a breakout year, having released multiple stellar singles including the most recent, titled “Isabella”and “Felony”from his “Boyfriend EP.”
Chukwuka Ekeani is the real name of the Choc City Music recording artist Ckay. He is an indigene of Anambra State though he was born in 1995 in Kaduna State to the family of Dr. & Mrs. Ekweani. The “Love Nwantiti” Crooner has been on the music scene for over 5 years and he keeps waxing ever stronger.
Chocolate city is one of the biggest Talent incubator in Nigeria. And, Ckay has released a lot of songs under the imprint including his extended Play project titled “ Ckay the first”and his most recent one “Boyfriend”EP which comprise of tracks like Issabella, Felony, Show, My Side, Jeje De Whine, Skoin Skoin, Mezebu and Kiss Me Like you miss..
Thematically,“Kiss me like you miss me” is a charming tune that explores the vulnerability of liking someone and wanting to spend all your time with that one person. With a sound inspired by the likes of Omah Lay and Fireboy DML, it captivates with an acoustic melody and soft-sung lyrics; it paints a pretty picture through using the endearing cham of Ckay’s voice and the simple melody.
It tugs at one’s heartstrings, and is perfect for a rainy day or when you need a happy little pick me up.
The lyrics for the song will perfectly captures its essence if the video would be shot on a rainy scene driving down country roads. The track create a nice little escape from the world, which is very much needed with all the craziness of year!
With his simple yet infectious melodies and voice, Ckay is bound to have more success come his way (especially with his new EP).
To me, Ckay has improved as a songwriter. he’s merely evolved. The recent change-of-pace is simply another chapter he is about to open for himself.
Truth is, the love Nwatiti is not his first track where he has written about the spiritual connection between love and valentine and giving out all you can for love sake. It’s also not the first time he has been descriptive in his ability to tell an emotionally – love elevated story.
His new EP ‘s simply represent a different
avenue in which to tell these whimsical tales. To be quite honest, the concept of Ckay’s music was no more surprising than alteration on reputation by telling us how good he was in music.
His extended Playlist of‘Boyfriend (EP)’ contains a total of 7 tracks with Featuring from Oxlade, KiDi, Bianca Costa & Amaarae with a Production Credit from BMH, Type A, Ckay, Auxxie and Illeri.
Ckay is currently a producer/artiste signed under Chocolate City Music group.
